The School District of Monroe Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program serves students with hearing loss ages 3-21 years of age. Students receive a variety of services in a variety of settings.
Some of the services and settings include but are NOT limited to:
Resource room 1:1 or small group support
Small group classes
Instruction in American Sign Language
Signed English Instruction
The School District of Monroe believes that all students who are deaf and hard of hearing have the right to communicate in whatever language and modality best meets each child's needs and the needs of their family. Each student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in which the parent(s)/guardian(s) along with teachers and administrators discuss what type of communication, services and resources will best meet the needs of each child.
